Sevilla gave it a go for about three minutes. That's roughly how long their lead lasted before Barcelona reminded the Pizjuán exactly who was visiting.

Youssouf Fofana got Sevilla going in the 19th minute, meeting a Felix Correia delivery with a header to put the hosts in front. The crowd was alive. For a moment, it looked like Sevilla might make a night of it. Then Raphinha happened.

Three minutes later, Andreas Christensen picked out Raphinha and he leveled without ceremony. That was the match, really. Sevilla spent the rest of the evening chasing shadows, finishing with 30.5 percent of the ball and a single corner to show for ninety minutes of effort.

Raphinha Takes Over

The second half belonged entirely to the visitor. Lamine Yamal set up Raphinha twice — first with a cross that Raphinha headed home in the 52nd minute, then again in the 69th for the third, which Raphinha finished to complete the hat trick. Barcelona were measured and relentless: 642 passes at 90 percent accuracy, 24 shots, and enough control that their goalkeeper was called upon only twice all night.

Sevilla, to their credit, stayed organized enough to keep the scoreline from getting uglier. Their goalkeeper made five saves. But seven shots and three on target tells you everything about how restricted they were — five offsides also suggest they were hunting a way back into the match that never came.

Lucien Agoumé picked up a yellow card in the 80th minute, by which point the game had long since been decided.

Qué noche para Raphinha. A hat trick in a hostile ground, two of the three assisted by a teenager — this is a Barcelona that knows how to close teams out.

The Read Held Up

Our pre-match read made Barcelona the clear favorite at 75 percent, and the result left no room for debate. Five straight wins coming in, and they made it six without breaking a sweat.

For Sevilla, the form heading into this one — a mixed LWWDL run — told you they were capable of a result, and Fofana's header briefly made that feel possible. But the gap in quality was too wide to paper over for ninety minutes. Cabal, that three-minute lead was about as close as they were ever going to get.

The question now is whether Barcelona have a challenger this season. They dominated a team in front of 41,145 fans without Raphinha even needing a particularly exceptional night by his standards — a hat trick is a hat trick, but he had plenty of help from a system that just keeps humming. Sevilla will feel the result is fair. Their manager will know the margin was manageable; the performance, less so.
