Frosinonevs
ComoNobody gave Frosinone much of a chance here. Our pre-match read made Como the heavy favorite at 64%, and with four straight wins coming in, the visitors looked every bit like a side building toward something serious. What followed at the Stadio Benito Stirpe was a masterclass in doing more with less.
Frosinone didn't need the ball. They needed Romano Schmid.
The First Half Told the Whole Story
Schmid set up both goals and never once looked like a player on the losing team. In the 14th minute he found Giacomo Calo, who finished to give the hosts an early lead they probably had no right to hold. Como had the ball constantly — 64.8% possession on the night, 488 passes completed at 90% accuracy — but Frosinone were disciplined and direct, and Schmid kept finding the moments that mattered.
Como pressed for an equalizer and Yan Couto picked up a yellow card in the 34th minute for his trouble. The visitors were growing frustrated, and then, en qué clavo se encontraban going into the break: Schmid again, threading through to Giorgi Kvernadze in the third minute of first-half stoppage time. Kvernadze put it away, collected a yellow card almost immediately after — perhaps for his celebration, perhaps for something else — and Frosinone walked into the dressing room two goals to the good.
Como Pushed, Frosinone Held
The second half was all Como on paper. Twenty-seven shots on the night, eight on target, eight corners. Frosinone's goalkeeper was busy — seven saves in total — and the backline worked hard enough to earn Gabriele Bracaglia a booking in the 56th minute. But the equalizer never came. Frosinone sat deep, fouled when they had to (21 fouls to Como's eight), and made their four saves count.
Antonio Raimondo was booked deep in stoppage time, and Assane Diao followed him into the book in the fourth minute of added time as Como's frustration finally spilled over. By then it was academic.
The final numbers are almost absurd: Como outshot Frosinone 27 to 22, had nearly twice the pass volume, and lost by two. Frosinone managed six shots on target to Como's eight and still kept a clean sheet. Cabal, that's the kind of night where the scoreline tells you everything the possession stats don't.
Como will feel this one. Four wins on the spin coming in, and they leave with nothing to show for an afternoon they dominated in every measurable way except the one that counts. The question now is whether that kind of performance — all that control, no reward — starts to weigh on them, or whether they shake it off quickly. Frosinone, meanwhile, looks like a side that knows exactly who they are: compact, dangerous on the break, and with Schmid pulling strings, more than capable of making a mess of anyone's afternoon.
